As the games development community emerge from the post-GDC haze it’s time to reflect a little on what the rest of 2010 has in store.
With Jack Buser’s confirmation that PlayStation Home’s user base has passed the 12 million mark it’s looking a lot like the figures are bearing out our own thoughts about Sony’s virtual community. Having worked on the concept for the Burn Zombie Burn! Home space, over a year ago now, we have kept a close eye on the commentary surrounding Sony’s virtual sleeping giant. It is developing and maturing at a rapid pace and our continual involvement has allowed us to create engaging promotional campaigns in this space, providing us with important insights into what Home means to users, plus what it means for developers, publishers and their products.
There will undoubtedly be some fantastic opportunities within Home for developers in the very near future as the technology allows for more interaction and potentially routes to purchase. PlayReplay are proud to be already working with some of the very best studios, publishers and retailers already working this arena and have become self-proclaimed Home marketing mavericks.
We’re very much looking forward to Sony revealing their strategy for Home in 2010, especially when it comes to in-Home Games. To quote Mr Buser himself: “You’re going to see us really embrace this idea of total game integration”
Can’t wait…
